Morning

  • Reading – Any book – Bonus points if you can find books about ants or insects
  • Writing – Copy part of the book or write a summary of the book. Draw a picture to go with your writing.
  • Math – Do math print outs about the number 6
  • Craft – Make a blue-tac/play-dough ant (run outside for as long as possible to find the best sticks for legs)

10 – 11 Snack & Play

  • Online book and quiz – The Ant and the Grasshopper – BookFlix
  • Art – Draw an ant hill – add 6 ants and 6 eggs

12 – 1:30 – Lunch & Play

  • Art – Make shadow puppets – ants, grasshopper, ant hill
  • Drama – Retell “The Ant and the Grasshopper” story using the shadow puppets
  • Art – Make a paper ant and paint it
  • Cleanup
  • Go for an ant spotting walk – drop some crumbs to feed the ants – take photos

2 – 2:30 Afternoon tea & Play

  • Reward & Free time

Craft – Make a blue-tac/play-dough ant

  • Get a big blob of blue-tac or play-dough – turn it into 3 balls
  • Run around outside and find 6 long sticks for legs, something for the eyes and antennae
  • Put it all together and make an ant

 

Art – Draw an ant nest – add 6 ants and 6 eggs

  2. move the shadow puppets and create a stroy
  3. (take turns so one can perform and the other can watch
